This nations according to the international telecommunication union (ITU) , have put in place national strategies, passed laws and regulations, and created regulatory bodies to protect their cyber space .The International Telecommunication Union's global cyber security index(This index evaluates each state's commitment to cyber security), awarded Tier 1 status to Ghana, Kenya , Rwanda , Egypt, Tanzania, Morocco and Mauritius in September 2024 , with points spanning from 95 to 100. The global cyber security index evaluates 5 key areas : Laws and regulations on cybercrime and cyber security , technical capabilities of national agencies , public awareness campaigns and training, partnerships between government and private sectors and national cyber security strategies. According to a report by Serianu, a Kenyan cyber security firm,cyber security has become a crucial problem in Africa ,because of the swift rate of digital transformation ,this move has led to a rise in cyber attacks, resulting in an estimated loss of $10 billion for the African continent in 2023. As Africa's digital market is expected to reach $712 billion in 2050 , the International Telecommunication Union highlight that , governments have a double responsibility to protect themselves and to provide necessary frameworks to safeguard individuals , organizations and public infrastructures.
