During a press conference on Friday , September 13,2024 at his ministerial department in Yaounde, The Minister of Territorial Administration Atanga Nji Paul announced the measures taken by the Head of State President Paul Biya, to assist those affected by the disaster . According to the Minister, the Head of State President Paul Biya has ordered the release of CFA 350 million to support families affected by the floods in the Mayo-Danay Approximately 19,000 households,totalling around 158,600 individuals have been affected ,with numerous material damages . The government's commitment to addressing this crisis is a significant step,but it also raises questions about how the entire society can mobilize to ensure that similar situations do not compromise the future of these communities.According to the government official, the allocated resources will be primarily used to purchase food and essential supplies , address the medical needs of those injure or sick and begins repairing critical infrastructure such as roads , bridges and public facilities,which are vital for the reconstruction of this already fragile region .
