Cameroon has achieved a remarkable breakthrough as a cocoa exporter , securing 7.6% of the global market share .This represent a two-place gain from the previous year. This surge is attributed to a 12.7% increase in cocoa exports compared to 2022 .Cameroon's main cocoa export destinations were The Netherlands 73.8% , Malaysia 9.4% , Indonesia 8,0% and Turkey 3,2% . According to the 2023 Cameroon External Trade report by the National institute of statistics, the country exported 180, 095 tonnes less than in 2022 ,generating approximately Cfa 359billion.This figure represents a 12.9% year-on-year increase in export revenue and accounts for 12% of Cameroon's total export earnings in 2023.The increase in export revenue is primarily attributed to the 21.2% rise in cocoa prices on the international market , due to a decline in production in countries such as Ivory Coast and Ghana respectively, the world's firts and third largest exporters in 2023 ,with 33.7% and 11.2% market share. For the 2022-2023 crop year , global cocoa production reached around 5million tonnes.
