According to Pierre Hele, Africans are the primary victims of the adverse effects of climate change.Cameroon's concern about funding for climate change mitigation efforts is timely as financing is a key aspect of the ongoing international climate change conference negotiations. We recall that, developed countries committed to mobilizing $100 billion per year approximately 62000 billion Cfa Francs to support climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts in developing countries. The United Nations has urged developed countries to double their climate adaptation financing to reach approximately $40 billion per year by 2025. According to UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres, it is imperative that developed countries quickly fulfil their commitments to double climate finance. Substantial contributions are also needed to fund the new loss and damage fund , ensuring these funds can receive innovative financing. The establishment of the loss and damage fund proposed by the United Nations, aims to support vulnerable countries facing extreme weather events such as droughts and floods enabling them to strengthen their resilience and develop their adaptive capacities.
