Cameroon's Foreign Trade Operations Single Window (GUCE) launched a digital system to streamline and accelerate the veterinary health certificate process for fish imports.This innovative move aims to enhance efficiency, transparency and security in the import process.The e-Guce platforms empowers importers to apply for veterinary health certificates digitally, eliminating cumbersome paperwork.The objective of this initiative is to drastically reduce processing times and eliminate customs clearance delays ,currently averaging 10 days. Cameroon's foreign trade operations single window expects this digital transformation to significantly facilitate international trade . The digital process introduces additional costs for importers including a 3% veterinary health certificate fee based on shipment value collected by customs.This fee is payable before certificate issuance. Cameroon's shifts to digital certification for fish imports,comes at a time when the country is actively reducing its fish imports. According to the National institute of statistics, fish imports in 2023 decreased by 7226 tons compared to 2022 . In 2023 Cameroon imported approximately 234 571 tons of fish compared to 241797 tons of year before.
