Cameroon Customs: Towards The Effective Collection Of Duties And Taxes On Phones.

The implementation of this measures introduced by the finance acts could soon be applicable in the upcoming years.

 According to the Cameroonian Customs , Nowadays less than cfa 100 millions are collected per month on the approximately cfa 2 billion collected in the years 2000.This drop in revenue collected contrast with the increase of numbers and quality of telephones imported into Cameroon. Approximately 4 million of telephones are shipped into the country that is estimated at CFA 13 billion of revenues per year given that the level of phone penetration into the country has reached the bar of approximately 70% . According to Customs authority, the collection of duties and taxes on phones in Cameroon remains a big challenge.To remind that in 2019 , , ,this approach had been contested .What is required to importers of phones should declare their goods when it's reaches the boundaries and should conform to the taxes eligible by all the means of payment, registered the imported phones in the data base of the Customs.This initiative aimed ammeliorating the collection of phone taxes and duties, prevent the illegal penetration of phones into the country and reduce the huge amounts of money lost by the  Cameroonian Customs .
