Unemployment disproportionately affects young people aged 20-35 with higher education degrees ,with a rate of morethan 14% , significantly higher than the 3% rate for unschooled individuals in the same age group. The rate also vary by educational level : more than 4% for the primary education, more than 6% for lower secondary education and more than 10% for upper secondary education,as reported by the National Institute of Statistics. The Minister of Employment Issa Tchiroma Bakary, attributes this situation to a mismatch between training and labor market needs , citing a disconnect between educational programs and the practical realities of the job market. According to Issa Tchiroma, youths need to acquire professional qualifications that make them eligible for jobs offered by the production sector,he stated following the information and exchange forum held at the National Assembly. During the forum, the Minister of Employment and the parliamentarians drew attention to the insufficient funding to the Ministerial department (Education), which is less than the require amount for a sector which is considered,a priority for youth development.
