Conflicts and natural disasters led to the displacement of 37 million people in Africa in 2023 , 3 times more than in 2009, according to a report by the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre. Flooding alone accounts for more than 75% of these displacements while droughts cause 11%. Somalia, Nigeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Congo accounts for 80% of Africa's internally displace person. These factors perpetuating the high level rate of internally displace people have a negative contribution to the continent's economy. Numerous African governments are working diligently to address the fundamental causes of displacement and stress the importance of continued international collaboration to strengthen theses endeavours. The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre,encouraged African countries to enhance disaster risk management, climate resilience.
