According to data provided by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) , Cameroonian shrimp is captured annually at around 10200 tons per year. This volume , which generates an estimated envelope of more than 30 billion Cfa Francs each year, is accounted for by 60% of artisanal fishing. Shrimp plays a key role in the Competitiveness market of the Cameroon's economy, it is therefore imperative to ensure effective management of stocks and the organization of stakeholders in this value chain, to guarantee social, economic and environmental sustainability and preserve marine biodiversity. The Cameroonian government in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, reaffirms its commitment to supporting the fishing sector through training techniques, modern techniques of fishing, and a more secure and hygienic way to handle,conserve this consumable maritime creatures , for a possible resumption of exports of Cameroonian shrimp to the European Union market , as Cameroonian shrimp had been banned from the Eu market , which denounced a lack of hygiene in the process of capture , handling ,conservation and marketing . When it withdrew from the International market, the volume of Cameroon's shrimp exports was approximately more than 500 million Cfa francs for a volume of more than 100 tons ,ranking 79th among exporting countries.The shrimp industry in Cameroon employs more than 700 people mainly women and young people ,therefore a particular emphasis will be placed on the inclusion of women,that accounts for 80% of workers in the artisanal sector, but who faces obstacles in accessing resources and finance. In All , Cameroon wants to become the main supplier of shrimp in the cemac sub-region.
