Health : US Government Sponsored Cfa 21 Billion Project To Fight Against Malaria In The North Region Of Cameroon

The project known as System to end the malaria burden through meaningful engagement (SEMBE II) has been launched on July 2,2024 by the U.S Ambassador H.E Christopher John Lamora and the Minister of Public Health Dr Manaouda Malachie to fight malaria in the North region of Cameroon.

 Funded by Cfa 21billion , SEMBE II five-year cooperative agreement aims at significantly reducing malaria related morbidity and mortality by strengthening Cameroon's health system ,improve health outcomes by increasing access to and the utilisation of quality malaria diagnosis , insecticide treated nets and the prevention and treatment services at the community level. Malaria remains the most wide spread disease in Cameroon responsible of over 2million reported cases annually,thus to target this disease the U.S government in collaboration with the Cameroon government remains committed to better health outcomes for the population and promote local solutions in the fight against malaria.The overall objective of initiative of the U.S government is to eliminate malaria-related mortality by 2029 in Cameroon.The project worth cfa 21billion alignment with Cameroon's draft 2024-2028 national malaria strategic plan will be implemented by a consortium led by Reach out Cameroon,JPIEGO, Pentecostal advocacy for socio-economic development,The Centre for Research in infectious Diseases today to block the continuous spread of this disease meanly affecting children and pregnant women in the Northern Part of the country.
