Dernière mise à jours il y'a 2 heures

The Office of the Minister of Water Resources and Energy served as the setting, on March 2, 2026, for an important working session between Gaston Eloundou Essomba and Ramon Ynaraja, Head of the Regional Representation of the European Investment Bank (EIB) for Central Africa. This meeting occurs in a context of rising national needs for basic infrastructure.

The exchanges allowed for a thorough review of all operations financed by the European institution, whose portfolio in Cameroon is among the most dynamic in the sub-region. The stakes are significant: ensuring the continuity of disbursements and the operational efficiency of ongoing construction sites to support industrial growth.

Beyond the technical assessment, Ramon Ynaraja reiterated the EIB's readiness to support the government in implementing its sectoral strategy. The financial arm of the European Union positions itself as a top-tier partner, capable of providing long-term financing and indispensable technical expertise for the country’s energy transition. Such collaboration is all the more strategic as the water and energy sub-sector requires massive investments to meet the growing demand from populations and businesses, while simultaneously respecting the country's environmental commitments.

The success of this partnership relies on close coordination between MINEE and the regional representation to remove administrative bottlenecks. For the executive, the EIB's support constitutes a lever of credibility with other international donors, thus facilitating the mobilization of mixed financing. As the country accelerates the Water and Electricity Master Plan, the reaffirmation of European support offers precious visibility for the deployment of future structural projects, which are essential to energy sovereignty and the competitiveness of the Cameroonian economy for the remainder of the 2026 fiscal year.
