According to the Ministry of Commerce, thise rise in prices month after months in the  far north region, can be attributed to climatic condition (semi-arid , intensified) by more frequent climate changes that affects severely the production of these agricultural consumables goods in that part of the country. This year again with the late arrival of rain , the prices of these items have  considerably upgrade as same as it was in the year 2023 . According to what is observed in commercial areas in the far north region, a bag of millet has increased from  Cfa 26,000 to approximately morethan Cfa 30,000. Without forgetting the prices of maize that has also witness an increase that is the price of a bag of maize is estimated nowadays at approximately morethan Cfa 15000 compared to the cfa 5000 it was at first sold , in the town of kousseri and Mokolo a bag of maize 120kg is now sold at more than CFA 30,000 respectively. As of rice , the price of local rice of 50kg cost nowadays approximately cfa 20,000 against cfa 10,000 and if this issue of climate changes continues to affect local products in that part of the country,  the level of production will reduce, prices may still witness an increase in the upcoming years therefore the rate of purchase will drastically reduce given way to food crisis that is already severely hitting that part of the country. To reduce the effect of this increase in prices due to natural effects (Climate change) the government of Cameroon alongside it's partners: the world Bank,Food Agriculture Organisation, and other non- governmental organisation are working hand in hand to seek solutions to responds to this growing issue and putting inplace strategies to increase production amidst climate disorder. This can be seen through workshop organised to educate farmers on methods of production, financial support given to farmers, agricultural tools and seeds distributed to farmers.
