HIV/AIDS: Young People Aged 15-24 Accounts For 30% Of New Infections Recorded In 2023.
Dernière mise à jours il y'a 3 moisIn a statement published on September 4,2024 , by the Minister of Public Health Dr Manaouda Malachie , has unveiled alarming HIV/AIDS statistics among young adolescent in Cameroon.

According to the Minister , in 2023 young people aged 15-24 comprised 30% of new infections, this alarming finding has prompted the mobilization of health authorities, led by the Ministry of Public Health to intensify efforts to combat the pandemic, with the goal of eliminating HIV/ AIDS Among young people by 2030 . Cameroon has recently adopted a plan to transition to a three-test algorithm for HIV screening.With approximately 500,000 individuals living with Hiv/AIDS , Cameroon is embarking on a new phase in its response to the epidemic, building on the achievement of a program that has resulted in a 50% rise in HIV prevalence over the past few decades. This target set by Cameroon, aims to ensure that 95% of people living with Hiv know their status, 95% of people who know their status are on treatment and 95% of people on traitment have a suppressed viral load .In December 2023 , Cameroon had achieved rates of 95.8% , 92.3% and 89.2% respectively according to the National Commitee for the fight against HIV /AIDS . The government of Cameroon, through the Ministry of Public Health, along with International Institutions, NGO's are determined to eradicate the widespread of HIV/AIDS nationwide.
