Cameroon : Japan Provides Fishermen With Crucial Equipment Support.

On September 6,2024 , the fishing community in Kribi a coastal town in Cameroon's southern region, benefited from a substantial donation of equipment , courtesy of the cooperation agreement between Cameroon and Japan.

The ceremony chaired by the Minister of Fisheries,Dr Taïga, took place in presence of the authorities of the city of Kribi and the second secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Cameroon.Japan's donation, worth around 500 million FCFA , consists of a pick -up truck , around 40 outboard engines and ice-making machines .As for the batch made available by the Cameroonian government, it consists of around 50 pirogues,213 fish display stalls and paddles .The Ocean department ,whose capital is kribi , is a hub for fishing in Cameroon.we are here to congratulate and encourage you in your efforts and create a favourable environment of the development and Cameroon explained Dr Taïga,Minister of Fisheries to fishermen in Kribi .This donation from the Japanese Government, falls inline with the policy of  development put in place by the government of Cameroon to boost the fishery sector in the country,thereby reducing the huge amount of money , approximately CFA 3billion spend by the government of Cameroon on fish importation yearly .
