Agriculture: The Cameroon Gov't Aims at Implanting 5 Units Of Banana -Plantain Transformation In The Country
Dernière mise à jours il y'a 4 moisIn the frame work of the development project of the value chains of agriculture(Pdcva) the government aims at building 5 transformation units in 3 regions of the country.
In detail, these 5 units of transformation include 2 transformation units of Banana -Plantain will be implanted in the localities of Boumnyebel and Afanda in the Center region and the 3 others units aimed at transforming Banana -Plantain into wheat will be located in Mvamgan (south region),Dimako (East region) and Bangem (North West region).The 5 units to be constructed in the country,is the object of the call for international proposal which has been launched on July 3 ,2024and the call for tender is opened still August 1st 2024 , opened to all countries eligible as define in the frame of market procurement.The Gov't overall objectives relies on 2 main points: to reduce the importation of wheat by introducing local manufacture wheat made out of local production of Cassava, plantain , potatoes.The second objective is that Plantain is amongst the value chains taken into consideration by Pdcva.The plateform of local wheat producers has for ambition to set up 400 000 tons of local manufactured wheat at the 2027 horizon extending this production level at 5 millions tons in 2030. The total amount in need for this project is estimated at Cfa 126,754 billion ,that will serve for the acquisition of high tech materials,land acquisition and increase in capacity of production.The platform of local wheat producers should watch at the construction of a production and transformation units of local wheat estimated at Cfa 4.1billion.Pdcva disposes of a global envelop of Cfa 75,4 billion allocated by the African Bank of Development,21.5% share from the government and 0.9% by the Another initiative to be held this year is that of the integrated plan for import-substitution of Agro-Pastoral and fishery 2024-2026, it is provided for this plan a budget of approximately cfa 12billion for the development of the cassava sector in Cameroon.
