Visas For Foreign Workers: Gov't Actions To Reinforce The Working Condition Of Foreigners In Cameroon

The Minister of Employment and Vocational training ,Issa Tchiroma Bakery chaired in Yaounde July 9 2024 a meeting for the examination of a document proposed bill to reinforce the situation of foreigners working and coming to work in Cameroon.

This meeting aims at seeking new regulations to reinforce foreigners working situations in Cameroon with the goal of giving priority to nationals. This document with new proposals interns to provide a plausible environment to foreigners by protecting the economy overall put in place workable strategies to protect the local work force .The minster aims at reinforcing the legal provision encouraged by the 2023 appropriate act which states in article 22 that visa fee worth 2 months of salary of the expatriate workers in the country should be paid to obtain their work permit, statistics demonstrate that,there is   over 10,000 illegal foreigne works in Cameroon, occupying certain positions that can be occupied by nationalist.The document examined therefore want to ensure that job opportunities that belongs to local workers   should not be left in the hands of foreigners that are not fully regularize to settle down to work in cameroon.Employment and job creation is one of the strong points of the business sector in any economy that helps to reduce poverty .The new propose document overall seek sol to reduce number of young talented Cameroonians Travel abroad because of lack of employment ,at time given to foreigners.
