The boom of online shopping, transaction, and reservation, driven by globalisation has come with alot of darkside surge in E-commerce fraud that can be significant such as Financial losses, harming the companies and business reputations.Travel , shopping,and event booking online platforms that allow user to book services for dresses, hotels and events makes them a prime target for fraudsters due to the high value of transactions and the sensitivity of customer data.The advent of these Technological innovations (internet) has dismantled traditional way of transactions.According to the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies Antic ,over 21,69million Cameroonians own a Mobile phone and amongst them 10,05 millions are internet users.Overall Cybercrimes and E-commerce frauds committed in Cameroon from 2012-2023 scamming was the most common with 61% , Phishing at 27% ,cyber extortion 4% , intrusion 2%. In 2021 Antic reported a CFa 12.2 billion lost to the Cameroonian economy due to Cybercrime which is double the losses reported in 2019 . World Wide online shopping giant projects E-commerce revenue to reach $ 6.3trillion by 2024.These fraudulent activities threatents the security of Online transaction ,a significant disadvantage to the economic sector.As such cyber resilience is needs to be double in Cameroon to secure end- to - end points in the financial services ecosystem, that will redouble the fight against this phenomenon taking height in the country and creat more awareness to the population.
