Industrialization in Cameroon: The Printing industries and Furniture manufacturing Pushes Down Ex -factory Prices Q1 2024.

According to the index note on prices of industrial production,The ex-factory prices of printing industries and furniture manufacturing has respectively step back at 7,6% and 8% in one year.

In Q1 2024 , the prices of industrial production has witnessed an increase of 0,9% compared to the same period in 2023.According to the quarterly note on the index price of industrial production published by the national institute of statistics, this rise is attributed to the increase of prices registered in the textile and log industries. However this increase has been annihilated by a decrease observed in the printing and manufacturing industry that is -8% and -7,6% respectively.In details , the decrease observed at the printing sector is due to a dynamic observed since the Q2 2023, processing in a gradual way ,prices has slow back from -3% Q2 2023 in annual sliding at -5,4% Q3 and at -6,4% at Q4. However between Q1 2024 and the precedent has registered an increase of 3% of production prices .On the part of Furniture manufacturing the reducing factors can be attributed to a price increase of 7.6% on the segment of the log industry whereby the prices has increase by 12 % at Q1 annual sliding.Apart from this sectors other domains have witnessed a step backward in their industrial ex-factory prices that is the extractive industry that registered a 1.9 % observed particularly with the price fluctuations of hydrocarbon sector and the rise in the prices of petrol in the world that has affected the national demand in a negative way.Next is the sector of Agro-alimemtation that comes with a fall of 0.4%compared to the same year in 2023 and lastly the sector of plastic, chemicals and pharmaceutical that registered a drop of 3.2% annual sliding. To another extend , eventhou the industrial millieu has witnessed significant drop in price ex-factory,Some sectors have witnessed a gradual increase in their price that is the textile industry witnessing an increase from 108,5% inQ3 2023 to 118,3% one year later amounting to an increase of 9%. This increase in production prices in Cameroon in this sector eventhou others witnesses a decrease,can be attributed to an international conjuncture marked by price increase on products of first necessity.
