Food And Agriculture: Factory-Gate Prices Increased In June, Following A Decline In Activity During Q1 2024.

During the second quarter of 2024 , production costs in cameroon's active agri-food industries experience a 1% year -over-year growth.

As indicated by the Industrial Producer price index, published by the National institute of statistics, the production costs in this sector have risen for the first time in six months.In facts , Cameroon's agro-food sector witnessed stable factory prices in the first quarter of 2024 , subsequent to a 4,5% decrease in the fourth quarter of 2023 . This downturn follows a decline in activity in the preceding quarter, pointing to a difficult operating environment in this industry throughout the start of the year. According to the National institute of statistics, first -quarter 2024 national accounts report ,imports decreased by 9% primarily driven by declining activity in  agricultural processing ,other agro-food industries and manufacturing sectors . To remind that, agri-food industries is a key sector of Cameroon's .Contrary to the slowdown in the Agro-food industry, a certain dynamism was observed in the local paper industry as well as in the machinery sector. This growth is driven by increased foreign demand.
