On September 30 , 2024 the General Manager of the Douala Autonomous port ,Cyrus Ngo'o and the Regional Representative for Central Africa Arise Intergrated Industrial Plateform signed a partnership agreement for the construction of a 500-hectare industrial zone along the Dibamba riverbank .This project subject of a memorandum of understanding signed between Douala Autonomous port and Arise IIP in March 2024 , will be implemented through a public and private partnership Spanning twelve years. The project will be fully financed by Arise IIP, with an investment of 230 billion Cfa Francs excluding taxes and will unfold in two inseparable phases. The first phase will focus on developing the multimodal logistics zone at a cost of 160 billion Cfa Francs, while the second phase will involve setting up the Intergrated Industrial Plateform for 60 billion Cfa Francs.According to the agreement, project companies will be established,each responsible for developing a specific component.A project company named Dibamba -Douala Port Logistics Platform will be established to develop and manage the multimodal logistics zone , with Douala Autonomous port and Arise IIP as joint shareholders.The Douala Autonomous port estimates that the project will create around 500,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.It will establish a comprehensive industrial ecosystem and a multimodal hub , seamlessly connected to the port of Douala and the inland regions via the Dibamba river , thereby tackling the existing economic and logistical challenges.
