The European union (EU) and The African Development Bank (AFDB) expressed satisfaction with the Trans-saharan Fiber Optic Project in Chad during their site visit.The project includes a 559-kilometer stretch to the Niger border and a 50-kilometer metropolitan network in the Capital. The project slated for completion by December 2024 -early 2025 is critical for modernizing Chad's national telecommunications system. Experts notes that , Chad relies significantly on international internet capacities from other African Nations, exposing it to outages due to fiber optic disruptions. This project will improve Chad's connection to international cables and enhance internal quality in the country. The total cost of the project is estimated at Cfa 20.5 billion, funded by the European union and the African Development Bank, with a contribution of Cfa 16 billion from the Chadian government.
