This trend is revealed in the quarterly analysis of the Industrial Producer Price Index (IPPI) , released on September 23,2024. At the beginning of the year, The national institute of statistics announced a 12,5% rise .Since 2021 , the Cameroonian statistical authority has recorded a Sustained rise in production prices within this sector. The price hike maybe attributed to the fuel price increase that took effect on February 3,2024 . Looking at the bigger picture, industrial production prices have been rising since the begging of the year , with a 0,9% annual increase ,followed by a more pronounced 1,6% uptick in the second quarter .This growth is largely attributed to the wood industries ,which reported a 12% increase and to the printing, paper and cardboard manufacturing sectors , which experienced a 7% upswing . The escalating costs in wood transformation emerge within a difficult economic context, marked by broad-based price increase. This may lead to higher consumer prices for wood based products, undermining purchasing capacity. This upward trend was partially offset by declines in specific industries such as furniture manufacturing (5,8%), machinery and equipment production (-4,3%) , metallurgy and metal products (-3.6%), according to the National institute of statistics.
