This rise in factory prices in highlighted in the industrial producer price index published by the National Institute of Statistics ( INS) .The industrial producer price index ( ippi) indicates that in Q1 of 2024 , factory prices in the industrial sector in Cameroon has increased by 0.9% yearly .Concerning the Metallurgy sector that witnesses a 0.3% for the first time in a year,this rise although modest contrasts with the series of decline recorded during Q4 of 2023.According to the agency responsible for official statistics in Cameroon, quarterly prices increased by 2.6%. The rise of factory prices in the Q1 of 2024 has been primaly pushed by the wood processing sector with a 12.5% increase and the textile sector with a 9% increase. Cameroon aims at becoming a newly industrialized country by increasing their manufacturing values of wood, textile , Metallurgy,printing ,all these sectors that makes up the industrial sector in Cameroon to be competitive with other countries in the domain of industrial production.
