The agency responsible for developing Cameroon's official statistics highlights the inequalities between men and women in the local labor market.Based on data compiled in the third Employment and Informal Sector Survey conducted in 2022, the labor force participation rate is still higher among men at 61.4% than among women at 47.3%.According to the report, the proportion of employed men in Cameroon is 10 percentage points higher than that of women. 58.3% of men have jobs, compared to only 43.7% of women. In  terms of income generated through their professional activities, women are once again significantly less well-off than men.By sector of activity, women are in the majority in branches such as agriculture, agri-food, and trade, according to the report. To somewhat improve the status of women in the Cameroonian labor market, the National Institute of Statistics offers some potential solutions. The Cameroonian statistician proposes intensifying the implementation of the financial inclusion program and holding consultations with the banking system to facilitate access to credit for women entrepreneurs.
