Telecommunication: Airtel Africa Receives $200 Million Lift From IFC .

According to the top management of Airtel Africa, this money will be invested in 3 African countries: The Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Kenya. This new loan will support the expansion and modernization of the network and upgrade distribution infrastructure,with a special regard on rural areas. This project is part of Airtel Africa's growth initiative amid competition in the African telecommunication market. Airtel Africa began discussions with the international finance corporation in April 2024 and the new investments are expected to provide high -speed mobile connectivity to more than 30 million subscribers. According to Mary peschka , the IFC's Regional Director for East Africa said " Better connectivity means more opportunity" , this will help more people not only to come online but also gain access to high-speed networks, so that they can better leverage the digital economy opportunities. According to Telecommunication experts , across Africa, approximately 600 million people lack access to 4G mobile coverage.Airtel Africa intends to partner with local and regional financial institutions to further boost the mobile money economic system,by providing additional financial services to all its customers across the African continent. Airtel Africa had previously received $ 194 million from the financial institution (IFC) in December 2022 for six of its 14 subsidiaries in Sub-saharan Africa.
