Road infrastructure : Ecole des Champions – Amour Mézam Link, the Final Key to National Road 6 Fluidity

Dernière mise à jours il y'a 9 heures

The machinery of the Bun’s company is hard at work putting the finishing touches on an infrastructure project that is redefining mobility in the regional capital of the North-West. Stretching across 5.5 km, the École des champions – Amour Mézam route is far from a mere avenue; it represents the final strategic segment designed to ensure a seamless junction with National Road No. 6.

The completion rate has crossed the critical threshold of 80.5%, signaling the imminence of a total delivery. Following the opening of the Babadjou-Matazem section, this 2×2 lane project completes a vital economic corridor, transforming a historic bottleneck into a boulevard of prosperity.

A technical examination of the construction site reveals a rigorous mastery of the schedule. The primary structural works, including right-of-way clearing, the subgrade, and the construction of culverts, are entirely finished. The deep structure of the roadway, comprising the foundation layer and the bitumen-treated base, is complete across the full 5.5 km. Currently, the deployment of bituminous concrete for the wearing course has already covered 4.475 km, offering early users an unprecedented level of driving comfort. This black carpet is supported by a robust drainage network, where the installation of gutters and T2+CS2 type curbs—now 98% complete—guarantees the longevity of the structure against seasonal weather conditions.

Beyond the asphalt, safety and modernity are taking root in the heart of Bamenda. The contractor has already begun the crucial phase of public lighting and horizontal signaling. This urban section is being equipped to international standards, featuring luminous markings and ground striping that secure mixed traffic flows, including pedestrians and heavy vehicles arriving from National Road 6. This landscape metamorphosis, visible at every intersection, testifies to the State's commitment to providing regional hubs with resilient infrastructure capable of supporting industrialization and the fluidity of interurban commercial exchanges.

The completion of this "missing link" finally unleashes the potential of National Road No. 6 for transporters and daily commuters alike. By connecting the urban center to major transit axes without interruption, the École des champions – Amour Mézam project drastically reduces travel times and vehicle maintenance costs.
