The report reveals that, unemployment rate remains high in urban areas, particularly among women and young people. There was a decline of 1,9% from 8,4% in the first quarter of 2024 to 6,5% in the second quarter. This result arises in a context where Nigeria is facing significant social tensions, demanding the effective implementation of the new minimum wage of 70,000 Naira. The country is experiencing a surge in inflation since the implementation of certain reforms by the government to revamp the economy. According to a world Bank report, published in October, 2024 , nearly 40% of Nigeria's population lives below the international poverty line of $ 2,15 per day . The country's employability rate has reached over 79% in the second quarter of 2024 ,compared to 77,3% recorded in the first quarter of 2024.
