Mbalmayo-Sangmélima Road : Cutting-Edge Technologies for a More Resilient Pavement
Dernière mise à jours il y'a 2 heuresIn mid-March 2026, the rehabilitation works on the Mbalmayo-Sangmélima axis show sustained momentum, marked by the use of new-generation geosynthetic materials. On the strategic sections between Ekombitié and Nkout II, the company Arab Contractors is intensifying the installation of geogrids, a cutting-edge structural device validated by the Client to guarantee the longevity of this vital infrastructure.

The major innovation of this construction site lies in the integration of these synthetic structures at the heart of the pavement. Designed to stabilize soils and distribute heavy loads uniformly, geogrids allow not only for the reinforcement of the road's bearing capacity but, above all, significantly extend its lifespan in the face of tropical climatic constraints and intense freight traffic. On the first lot, connecting Ekombitié to Nkolnyada II, the physical execution rate now stands at 47%. A strictly identical performance is observed on the second segment leading to Nkout II, where technical teams maintain a steady pace to meet contractual commitments.
The modernization of this 82-kilometer route is not limited to a simple refurbishment. For sections already treated, additional optimization interventions have been initiated, mobilizing the combined expertise of Arab Contractors and Razel. This inter-company coordination aims to eliminate residual vulnerabilities and raise the infrastructure to the most demanding durability standards in the sub-region. In the medium term, securing the pavement on this strategic axis between the Centre and South regions should considerably streamline commercial exchanges. For transporters and economic operators, this technological innovation will translate into a direct reduction in fleet maintenance costs and faster turnaround times on a key route for the national economy.
