Parties to this convention calls on additional stakeholders to join forces in supporting Gabon's forest ecosystems and sustainable development. Gabon stores an average of 140 million tonnes of carbon annually, while emitting just 35 million tonnes, thanks to a carbon reserve of over 139,9 million tonnes per year,this positions Gabon to market its carbon credits to companies in need . According to Gabonese authorities, Gabon obtained carbon credit certification under the United Nations framework convention on climate change for the period 2010-2018.In June 2021 , Norway provided Gabon with an envelope of   approximately 9,3 billion Cfa Francs, to support its forest preservation effort . This financial support of 36 billion Cfa Francs aims to bolster Gabon's commitment to protecting its forest ecosystems.Gabon has pledged to adopt sustainable forests management practices , strengthen the capacities of research institutions and combat environmental crimes in order to benefit from this financial aid .
