Infrastructure : MINEPAT Evaluates the Efficiency of Public Investments at the Port of Kribi
Dernière mise à jours il y'a 21 heuresThe Kribi industrial-port complex is consolidating its role as a catalyst for the national economy. Within the framework of monitoring the P2ZI convention, a delegation from the Ministry of the Economy, Planning, and Regional Development (MINEPAT) conducted a technical inspection mission on-site. Received by Patrice Melom, General Manager of the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK), the team focused on operational rigor and the progress of structural projects intended to transform the seaside city into a premier industrial hub in Africa.

Energy stands as the anchor of this evaluation, highlighted by the visit to the PAK’s new electrical substation. This energy transmission infrastructure is a determining factor for the operational stability of the complex. By guaranteeing a reliable high-voltage power supply, the port is removing one of the primary barriers to the installation of processing units. This project is part of a global vision where energy availability becomes a major comparative advantage to attract foreign investors and support the escalation of the integrated industrial zone.
The efficiency of public spending is at the heart of the relationship between the State and the PAK. The P2ZI convention serves as a compass for resource allocation and performance measurement. Exchanges between the ministerial delegation and the port management allowed for the validation of the conformity of achievements with budgetary commitments. This institutional synergy aims to transform public financing into productive assets, capable of generating sustainable growth and strengthening Kribi's position as an essential logistical hub in the Gulf of Guinea.
The impact of modernizing port facilities on Africa's progress is fundamental. By aligning the development of the PAK with the National Development Strategy 2020-2030 (SND30), the government reaffirms its commitment to import substitution through strong local production. The port of Kribi is no longer merely a transit platform but is becoming the heart of an ecosystem where industry, logistics, and energy converge to accelerate the structural transformation of the Cameroonian economy.
The success of this dynamic will depend on the speed with which auxiliary infrastructure is delivered. For the national economy, Kribi represents a hope for diversification and resilience. Every technical advance on the ground confirms the country's ambition to equip itself with a modern tool of economic sovereignty, one that is efficient and perfectly integrated into global trade circuits.
