Electricity Production and Transportation : More than 5 Companies Compete for Updating Cameroon's Electricity Master Plan.

The plan aims to enhance the country's energy sector, aligning with its National Development Strategy 2020-2030, which targets universal access to electricity by 2035 and an additional 3,500 MW of power capacity.

Cameroon plans to draft and update its Master Plan for electricity production, transmission, and distribution in the coming days. The goal is to create conditions for efficient management of the energy sector by providing the country with an investment planning tool.Not less than 5 companies are already in the running, as part of the Electricity Sector Reform Program in Cameroon. Some of these Companies Involved:  Electricité de France (EDF),  IED Consult and BH Consult , Groupe Artelia & Nodalis, Groupement Ginger & Sofreco & Genex (Franco-Cameroonian, Groupement MRC & Seureca (Franco-Spanish), Groupement Study International and Ideaconsult International (Tunisian),  Studi Cameroun (Cameroonian), Groupement Suez Consulting & Engie Impact (French) and Fatsons Engineering (Cameroonian)

The project aims to reduce inequalities in access to electricity between urban and rural areas,create jobs, especially for young people,promote the private sector by providing electricity at a competitive cost,substitute electric energy for wood fuel to reduce deforestation, in addition,  promote economic diversification and thereby reduce the economy's vulnerability to exogenous shocks. The Government Ambitions is to increase electricity production to 5,000 MW by 2030 and meet domestic demand and export surplus
