The International Monetary Fund's African Deputy Division Chief, Antonio David made this remark at the October 2024 Regional Economic Outlook. Inflation rates are moderating in several countries with almost 50 % reporting stable prices.Encouragingly , debt levels have stopped increasing but still exceed 50% of the Gross Domestic Products, a Corning threshold.Antonio David expects economic growth to gain traction in 2025 ,with a projected rate of 4,4%, however it falls short of making a substantial impact on poverty reduction .In July 2024 , Cameroon re-entered the Eurobond market , this positive advancement, indicates upbeat global financial outlook , characterized by reduced borrowing costs,this further demonstrates goverments' commitment to implementing responsible economic management. The institution highlighted that despite stabilized debt levels, substantial risks remain, varying across countries.African nations continue to struggle with debt repayment.
