Diplomacy : Cameroon at the Heart of the African Union’s Major Decisions in Addis Abeba

Cameroon played a leading role during the 39th Conference of Heads of State and Government, as well as throughout the 48th session of the Executive Council.

Mandated by the Head of State, Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute led the national delegation with the mission of carrying Yaoundé’s orientations into the Pan-African chamber. This presence at the summit of the African decision-making pyramid underscores the country's desire to influence ongoing institutional reforms and to reaffirm its positions on the themes of security and economic integration.
During these sessions, the Cameroonian representatives actively participated in deliberations regarding the organization's financing mechanisms and the acceleration of Agenda 2063. Joseph Dion Ngute, in his capacity as the Personal Representative of the President of the Republic, advocated for increased coordination in the management of regional crises, while supporting initiatives aimed at streamlining trade exchanges across the continent. Cameroon’s involvement in the work of the Executive Council ensured the coherence of the AU’s budgetary decisions, guaranteeing that the priorities of the Central African sub-region were duly taken into account in the operational roadmaps.
This diplomatic sequence provided a platform to showcase national expertise in mediation and resilience. The bilateral exchanges conducted on the sidelines of the Conference consolidated ties with strategic partners, thereby strengthening Cameroon’s stature as a pivotal actor in multilateral diplomacy.
