On October 11,2024 , in Bangui, Central African Republic, the Council of Ministers of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community, approved a budget of 82,9 billion Cfa Francs, representing a decrease of 7,6 billion Cfa Francs compared to the 90,5 billion Cfa Francs allocated in 2024 . The Council applauded the rationalization measures that led to a decrease in the proposed budget, according to the Bangui meeting's final statement. This satisfaction, is all the more justified as the Cemac Commission has been struggling to meet its budgetary objectives for sometime now ,due to the accumulation of delayed payments of expected contributions from member countries. These contributions are primarily collected through the community intergration tax , introduced in 2012 to fund regional integration, which amounts to 1% of the taxable value of imports from non-member countries, serving as the primary funding source for the Cemac commission's budget.Nevertheless , National Public Treasuries often fail to pay their contributions promptly, leading to a buildup of outstanding debts.According to official data, by the end of 2020 , Cemac member States had accumulated approximately 80 billion cfa francs in community intergration tax revenue.
