CEMAC: The Central Bank Rolls Out A Liquidity Offer Of CFA 340 Billion, Providing Relief To Banks.

However, credit institution have only absorbed 285 billion Cfa Francs representing a subscription rate of 84 % .The previous operation on October 8,2024 had resulted in a subscription rate of 76,3%.Although this operation still demonstrates the commercial banks' need for liquidity,it does not represent a new critical situation, requiring offers exceeding 300 billion Cfa Francs, these amounts generally correspond to the expressed needs. However, reducing the Central Bank's offering below these thresholds could harm credit institutions , following over 2 years of restrictive monetary policy aimed at draining their resources and reserves to limit credit access .This strategy officially aimed to combat runaway inflation in the Cemac region.Nevertheless , as inflationary pressures have subsided in the community market since the start of the year, Beac has progressively eased liquidity constraints on the banks from the second quarter of 2024 , particularly by restarting liquidity injection operations in June 2024 ,after a hiatus of morethan a year.
