The local taxation bill in Cameroon proposes a reorganization of the collection of resources for decentralized local authorities.Once promulgated, the divisional tax centers will be transformed into local taxation centers for individuals.
The newly introduced mechanism ,as announced by the ministry of Finance, will enhance efficiency and optimize tax revenue collection. This initiative is taking place in a context where the 2025 Economic and Budgetary Programming Document, provides for an increase in tax revenue from Cfa 3998,7 billion in 2024 to 4410,7 billion in 2025 . The Cameroonian government plans to focus on modernizing the procedures for mobilizing revenue, including the dematerialisation of tax procedures, the registration of tax payers , declaration, issuance and recovery of local taxes and duties. According to the Ministry of Finance, the law on local taxation must also be accompanied by the abolition of cash payments in favour of secure payment methods such as: payments at bank counters and mobile tax payment.
