Cameroon's Agriculture : 2024 Agricultural Campaign Kicks off In The Northern Part Of The Country.

of Agriculture and Rural Development, Gabriel Mbairobe has launched the 2024 agricultural campaign in the town of Meiganga (Adamawa Region )for the 3 regions of the grand Nord on June 26 ,2024.

 This compaign, aims at mobilising the agricultural sector which is one of the main force of the countries economy with almost 3/4 of the economically active population to attain level of production project at horizon 2035 and to put into practices the application of import-substitution as prescribed by the Head of States President Paul Biya. To materialised the Head of States vision , Farmers have received ammeliorated Maize , wheat seeds and agricultural inputs. The overall objective of this Agricultural Campaign is to boost agricultural sector ,ensure surplus production and ensure sustainability of Cameroon producers to produce sufficient quantities to ensure their availability and satisfy local demand.Boosting the agricultural sector in this part of the country will contribute to fight against farming and poverty ensuring the wellbeing of the population particularly and in general will give way to entrepreneurship.The government objectives to upgrade agricultural sector is to reduce the level of dependency and amount of money the Cameroonian spend Year -on -year on the importation of goods that can be locally produced and grown in the country, according to the National institute of statistics shows that the importation of maize by Cameroonian consumers has surged by 22.9% in 2023 reaching 39,991.3 tons valued at cfa 7.8 billion ,wheat and other agricultural product importation contribute to the state deficit budget. Encouraging agriculture and actors in the sector will contribute to the production and consumption of Made in Cameroon and to a greater extended contributing at increasing the state wallet through the exportation of this home made production to the world market making Cameroon to be competitive e at the international market a vivide example is the case of Cameroon's Banana that is among the product highly consumed in the European market,Thereby is Agricultural Campaign in Meiganga that regroups the 3 regions of the Nord which enter inline with the National Strategy Development goals aims at boosting the product of these agricultural input to satify the world market demands for a equitable economic advantage that is to the state as well as the actors in the domain.
