The solemn halls of the African Union (AU) headquarters in Addis Ababa vibrated, on February 14, 2026, with the rhythm of the stability issues currently fragmenting the continent. This top-tier diplomatic mission was marked by the transmission of a message whose content underscores Yaoundé’s doctrinal posture on the international stage: the primacy of dialogue over confrontation. In an African context marked by persistent hotspots of tension, Cameroon’s voice sought to be one of wisdom and restraint.

The advocacy delivered by the Prime Minister, on behalf of President Paul Biya, centered on an absolute urgency: the peaceful resolution of disputes that continue to torment African nations. By calling for a culture of consultation, Cameroon reaffirms its commitment to endogenous mediation mechanisms to heal the wounds of security crises. This significant message, carrying a vision of lasting peace, comes at a time when the AU is striving to revitalize its peace and security architecture. For Yaoundé, stability is the inalienable foundation without which no ambition for economic growth or sub-regional integration can take root in the long-term vision of Agenda 2063.

This 39th session provided a high-level platform to reiterate Cameroon’s solidarity with its peers in the face of asymmetric threats. Joseph Dion Ngute’s intervention recalled that the continent's prosperity depends on its ability to transform conflict zones into development hubs. By placing dialogue at the heart of the exchanges in Addis Ababa, the personal representative of the Head of State consolidated Cameroon’s positioning as a pivotal actor, whose experience in managing complex balances serves as a compass for an Africa in search of unity and sovereignty.
